Connecting Your Domain

Buy a domain through Buildrok in two clicks, or connect one you already own with two DNS records.

Every published Buildrok site lives on a free buildrok.com/s address. A custom domain like yourbusiness.com is optional, and there are two ways to get one connected: buy it through Buildrok, or bring one you already own. Both happen on the Domains page, which you'll find from your dashboard under each site.

The Buildrok Domains page with the Buy Or Connect A Domain search box and the Connected Domains panel

Option 1: Buy A Domain Through Buildrok

This is the two-click path. On the Domains page:

  1. Type the name you want into the search box and hit Search.
  2. Pick a registration term: 1, 2, 3, or 5 years. The exact price is shown per result, and the final price is confirmed at checkout. Premium domains can cost more than the standard rate for their ending.
  3. Click buy and complete checkout. The domain connects to your site automatically; no DNS settings to touch.

A few things worth knowing about this purchase:

  • It's a one-off yearly registration, separate from your subscription. Domains are not included in any plan.
  • The domain is registered in your name. It's yours, and you can transfer it out later if you ever want to.

Option 2: Connect A Domain You Already Own

Already bought a domain at GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, or anywhere else? Connecting it is free. You'll point it at Buildrok with two DNS records:

  1. On the Domains page, enter your domain to connect it to your site.
  2. Buildrok shows you exactly two records to set at your DNS provider: an A record on the root of your domain (the @ entry) and a CNAME record on www. The exact values appear in your dashboard with copy buttons next to each, plus a copy-all button for both at once.
  3. Log in at your DNS provider, open the DNS settings for your domain, and add (or update) those two records. The DNS guide in your dashboard links straight to the help pages for common providers like Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Hostinger, Squarespace, and Wix, and even highlights the provider your domain appears to use.
  4. Come back to Buildrok and click Recheck.

What The Status Means

While your domain connects, the Domains page tracks it through a short pipeline:

  • Waiting For DNS Changes. Buildrok hasn't seen your new records yet. Double-check the two values, then Recheck.
  • DNS Still Propagating. The records are right and the update is spreading across the internet. Nothing to do but wait a little.
  • Connected Successfully. Your site is live on the domain, with SSL issued automatically.

How Long Does It Take?

DNS changes usually land within minutes, but propagation time is set by your DNS provider, not Buildrok, and can occasionally take up to a day. Two practical tips:

  • Sometimes the root domain updates before www, so give it a little time before rechecking again.
  • If nothing has changed after a few hours, re-open the DNS guide and compare your records character for character. A trailing dot or a record added to the wrong subdomain is the usual culprit.

One Subscription Detail

Serving your site on a custom domain is what your subscription pays for. If the subscription lapses, the custom domain shows a renew notice until payment is sorted, while your site stays available on its free buildrok.com/s address. The full picture is in Billing And Subscriptions.

Common Questions

Is the domain included in my subscription?

No. A domain bought through Buildrok is a separate one-off yearly registration, priced per domain and shown before you pay. Your subscription covers hosting, SSL, and serving your site on that domain. Connecting a domain you already own is free.

How long does DNS take?

Usually minutes. Some DNS providers take longer to push changes out, so if Recheck doesn't go green right away, give it a little time and try again. Occasionally the root domain connects before the www version; that resolves on its own.

Do I keep the domain if I cancel?

Yes. Domains bought through Buildrok are registered in your name. If you cancel your subscription, contact support for your transfer code (EPP) and you can move the domain to any registrar.

Does my site need a custom domain?

No. Your site is live on its free buildrok.com/s address without one. A custom domain looks more professional on a van or business card, and it's the address that builds long-term value on Google.
