This policy explains how refunds and cancellations work when you buy something from Buildrok. If you have a question, contact us at /contact.
Bought a Done For You website? It comes with an unconditional 30 day money back guarantee on the setup fee, which is more generous than anything on this page. Read the Refund and Guarantee Policy instead. Where the two disagree, that one wins.
1. Monthly plans
Buildrok has monthly plans (right now, Single Page at $29/month and Multi Page at $49/month). We charge you at the start of each month, for the month ahead.
Cancelling
You can cancel any time from your account. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the month you have already paid for. Your site stays live until then. We do not refund part of a month you have already paid for.
When we do give your money back
- You were charged twice, or charged by mistake: If you are charged in error, or charged twice for the same month, contact us. We will look into it and refund you where it is right to.
- You were charged after you cancelled: If we billed you after your cancellation was confirmed, contact us and we will refund that charge.
When we do not give your money back
- Part of a month. You keep using your site until the month you paid for runs out.
- Forgetting to cancel before the next charge date.
- Not using Buildrok during a month you paid for.
2. Optional extras
Optional extras are charged monthly alongside your plan, and you can switch one off at any time. When you do, the unused part of the month comes back as a credit on your account, applied to your next bill automatically. It is a credit, not a cash refund: money already charged for an extra is not sent back to your card, the same as your base plan.
3. Web addresses
This section is about web addresses bought separately on a Do It Yourself plan. On Done For You the domain's first year is included in the setup fee, the whole fee is covered by the guarantee, and you keep the domain either way; see the Refund and Guarantee Policy.
When you buy a web address through Buildrok, another company registers it in your name. Once your address is registered, we cannot give the money back, because the domain is yours and the registrar has been paid.
We do not register it until you approve your site. Up to that point nothing has been bought, so there is nothing to refund, and if you change your mind before then you are not charged for a web address at all. It also means the name is not held for you in the meantime. If somebody else registers it before you approve, we will tell you and help you pick another.
When we do give your money back
- The address could not be registered: If your payment goes through but the address cannot be registered, we refund you automatically, or as soon as we know it failed.
- You were charged twice, or charged by mistake: If you are charged in error, we will look into it and refund you where it is right to.
When we do not give your money back
- The address was registered: Once it is registered, the fee is normally final. The companies that register web addresses do not allow it to be reversed.
- Waiting for your address to start working: After you change the settings, it can take up to 48 hours for your address to work everywhere. That is normal, and it is not a reason for a refund.
- Settings changed afterwards: If the settings for your address are changed after we have set them up, we will help you put them right, but the registration fee is not refundable.
4. Trouble getting your address working
If your address is registered but your site is not live on it yet, we show you the settings to add and a button to check them again. If you are stuck, contact us at /contact and we will help you sort it out.
5. How to ask for a refund
If you think this policy covers you, contact us at Contact and tell us:
- The email address on your Buildrok account
- What you were charged for (a plan, an extra, or a web address)
- Roughly what date you were charged
- The web address, if your question is about one
We aim to reply within one working day. If we agree to a refund, the money goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe. It usually shows up on your statement within 5 to 10 working days, depending on your bank. We cannot refund you in cash, by check, or any other way.
6. EU/EEA and UK consumers
If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract for digital services. By subscribing and asking us to publish or make your site available immediately, you request that we begin performance during the withdrawal period and you acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed. For any portion not yet performed, you may withdraw within 14 days by contacting us, and we will refund the unperformed portion as required by law. This does not affect your statutory rights. See our Terms of Service for the full provision.
